Recognition, derecognition and measurement
On initial recognition, investments are measured at fair value. Directly attributable transaction costs are expensed
as incurred, unless they relate to financial assets FVOCI in which case they are included in the carrying amount
on initial recognition. The Company deems the transaction price as an appropriate proxy to fair value at initial
recognition unless there is an indicator to the contrary.
Investments are derecognised when the rights to receive cash flows from the financial assets have expired or
have been transferred and the Company has transferred substantially all the risks and rewards of ownership.
Subsequent to initial recognition, the Company’s investments are measured at fair value. Gains and losses arising
from changes in the fair value of investments are presented in the statement of comprehensive income within
changes in fair value of investments.
